The Newmarket Soccer Club is pleased to announce that these four players have been selected for the 2009/10 Team Ontario squad. The players will be leaving their team to join the Provincial squad to train four times a week at the Ontario Soccer Association facility in Vaughan. The girls will train and play with players who have been selected from across Ontario until the end of April. They will return to the NSC for the O.Y.S.L outdoor season. On behalf of the Newmarket United competitive program, we wish all four players the best of  luck for the upcoming winter program and thank them for representing the Club at the highest standard in Youth Soccer in this Province. Well done and keep training hard.

testoni CONGRATULATIONS
to Nicholas Testoni of the NU U13 Boy's Team for being selected for the O.S.A.'s Regional Program. Nick will train for the next 9 months in preparation for the Provincial team try-outs in September 2010. Well done Nick! We're proud of you!
U9 Boys: RH Raiders Green over Newmarket United, 1-0 We are very proud of our U9 boys who came together and beat a very strong Woodbridge team (who up until now were undefeated) to make it to the finals at the Richmond Hill Tournament Septemebr 19-20.  It was a very exciting game, and things got a little tense for Woodbridge when we scored the first goal in a beautiful executed free kick from just outside the box. Unfortunately, with less than 1 minute left in the game, Woodbridge tied it up at 1-1. In the penalty shootout our boys proved they were better by perfectly executing 4 penalty kicks in a row, where Woodbridge missed twice.

The final game was against the home team, Richmond Hill Raiders. We were up 3 nothing at the half, and we were convinced this was going to be a much deserved victory. But in the second half the momentum shifted when we started to make some silly mistakes in the mid-field, which unfortunately cost us 3 goals. So we once again, for the second time in one day, went to the shoot out, and at the end of 5 penalty kicks, it was still a tie. We missed our 6th shot and lost the final game. It didn't matter as we still felt like winners having beaten the toughest team in the semi-final. This was a great experience for our boys, and a much needed boost, as their confidence levels have now sky-rocketed.

Kudos to the Newmarket United G95A team for their "finalist" title in the recent Brossard Challenge Cup held near Montreal. The team dominated and outplayed their opponent - Markham Lightning, but suffered an unfortunate 1-0 loss by a very late goal.
G95B

B97A
Kudos to the Newmarket United Boys 97A team who perservered at a recent competition in Kingston. They didn't lose a game; didn't conceed a goal; and scored more goals than any other team. Unfortunately they lost on penalty kicks in the final, but were heralded by officials and spectators as the best team in the tournament. Sometimes thats just the way the ball bounces.

Congratulations to our U17 OYSL Girls who defeated Aurora, Brantford, and Bolton, as well as their OYSL rivals from Tecumseh en route to a sweep of their Ontario Cup opening round this past weekend (JUly 11-12)in Brantford. It was a great team effort all around, allowing only 3 goals over the 4 games. The team will now advance to the Ontario Cup Semi-Final on August 30 at Birchmount Stadium vs Unionville. We wish you all the best…you have the support of the whole club behind you!
The Boys U15A team had a great time in Ottawa, winning the Gloucester Tournament on July 5th. The team went undefeated in all 5 games, with terrific team defence and shutout goalkeeping, and some inspired, passionate play. The boys will take this confidence into their league play and hopefully extend their unbeaten streak for as long as possible! We want to wish success for all Newmarket Rep Teams wherever they play this Summer.

Newmarket United G98A team conquered Laval, Quebec's 24th Internationale de Laval tournament June 27th and 28th. The team won all 5 games with scores of 2-0, 6-0, 2-0, 6-0 and the final match against Laval with a score of 1-0. Keeper Taylor Piotrowski enjoyed a shut out tournament.  The girls had a fun time in Quebec and love being Championnes.

Newmarket United G97A finished with a silver medal on the May 23rd weekend at the Ottawa Icebreaker tournament in the U12 Girls “Ice” pool. The team lost a hard fought battle that could have gone either way to Laser Joliette in the Finals 0-1.  The team won 6 out of 7 games to make it to the finals, their only other loss also being to Laser Joliette in their first game 0-1. Other than the 1st game loss the girls played very well and they (and the parents!) conducted themselves well over the weekend. They won 3 games in regulation time and 3 in penalty shoot outs, scoring on 12 of 15 attempts. A great start to the outdoor season!
