NSC President & NU GU16 Team Meet the Prime Minister! On Tuesday, August 17th, MP Lois Brown invited the Newmarket United U16 girls team to meet Prime Minister Harper, who was in Ajax for a BBQ. NSC President Lucille Abate presented him and MP Brown with a personalized team jersey! The PM chatted for a few minutes with the team and he indicated how he was a fan of soccer, having played it as a youngster. Click on the image to launch the video in a new browser.The Newmarket United Girls U18 squad recently participated in the Calvert Beach International Invitational Cup in Calvert Beach, Maryland. The team qualified for the finals and were named co-champions with Vista Omni of Virginia when the final game had to be canceled due to severe weather conditions. The girls were outstanding throughout the tournament, bringing a successful year to a wonderful conclusion prior to heading off to their various post-secondary adventures. Coach Sam Mikail thanks the girls for a wonderful season and a terrific run!
The NSC congratulates our NU GU18 having concluded the 2010 Outdoor Season as CGSL L3 League CHAMPIONS. Their hard work paid off and were rewarded with an UNDEFEATED season with 11 wins and 1 tie. We want to thank Coach Sam Mikail and the entire team for representing Newmarket United with pride! As the ladies begin College/University in the Fall, we wish them great success and look forward to their return playing for our OWSL U21 team. The NSC technical staff congratulates the U16 C.G.S.L team on their recent win of their league and promotion. Well done ladies! This is the second league title the Club has won so far this season with the U18 C.G.S.L girls winning their league title as well.
Congratulations to the U16 C.G.S.L level 4 Girls team who won promotion August 12th after a 5-0 victory! The girls are still on course for the league championship Well done to Coach Rob and all the players.
The NU GU17 Team recently captured The Brockport New York, Internatinal Soccer Festival Tournament. This is their second tournament championship having topped all teams at the COVI tournament earlier this season in Vaughan. The girls went undefeated in both tournaments. Congratulations girls!
Our NU GU9 Team showed great sportsmanship and spirit! Recently the GU9 team played a regular league game against Oak Ridges. The Oak Ridges team has had a tough season and has yet to win a game. Darryl Burke and his NU team came up with medals for the Oak Ridges' girls and had each NU player write a letter of encouragement for a player on the other team. The Oak Ridges team and coaching staff were overwhelmed. Check out their thank you letter here! Way to go NU GU9!! Awesome team sportsmanship!!The B96A team won Gold in the BU14 division championship at the Collingwood Tournament this past June. The boys did not allow a goal against in the entire tournament while netting 20. This is their 2nd tournament win in recent months. Earlier in May they won the Frank Sobil Tournament held in Oshawa.
The NU G97A team had a great weekend (July 10-11, 2010), winning the U13 girls Ambassador’s Cup in Kingston ON. The team won all 5 of their games, scoring 13 times and allowing only 1 goal against. Like the World Cup final played on the same day, the U13 girls Ambassador Cup final was tied after regulation time. Altaya Abbaglivo scored the golden goal for Newmarket a mere 2 minutes into the 1st 5 minute overtime period. Congratulations team!
Congratulations to the GU16 CGSL team on their successful 2nd place finish in the recent Unionville Tournament held on June 5 & 6, 2010.Congratulations on a successful 2nd place finish in the 19th Annual Greece Buccaneers Tournament Rochester NY on May 22nd 2010 weekend. The G98A team played up to the U13 division to be able to play 11 vs. 11 in the USA, the team started the tournament with 2 successful shut out victories on Saturday, then made into the finals on Sunday.
The B97A team recently won the BU13 division championship at the Barrie Spiritfest Tournament, June 5-6, 2010. The boys took the cup in penalty kicks in the final game against Oshawa Turul.
